The parents of Lester Nelson & Jessie Gacal cordially invite you to the wedding of their sons

...since our wedding!

Mabuhay! If you’re here, you’re probably friends with Lester Nelson and/or Jessie Gacal. Well, they’re thrilled to announce they’re getting married!1 They’ll tie the knot at 2pm, Saturday, June 18th, 2016 on the deck of Salmon Annie’s overlooking the gorgeous Seldovia Slough2, and they’d be elated if you could join them on what’ll be the most special day of their lives so far. Also, this’ll be Jessie’s first trip to Alaska—America, even3—and it’d be awesome to show him a warm Alaskan welcome.

Salmon Annie’s is located on Kachemak Street, near the bridge. If you’re arriving by boat, head to the bridge and turn left. If you’re arriving by airplane, helicopter, zeppelin or other aircraft, head south down Airport Ave., cross the bridge and turn right. You can’t miss it.4

Gift Registry

Lester and Jessie are fortunate enough to have everything they need. If you were considering giving a wedding gift, they kindly ask that your money go towards those less fortunate. So in lieu of a traditional gift registry, they ask that if you have the money, please make a donation to Ferdinand Center for the Creative, a nonprofit near and dear to both of their hearts.6

Your money will go far. A gift of $50 could buy enough school supplies for more than twenty Filipino street children; school supplies which are required by the schools, and without which they wouldn’t be able to attend.

  1. If it’s news to you that they’re gay, sorry. Coming out is a long and seemingly endless process.

  2. Seriously, the Seldovia Slough has got to be amongst the most stunning locations in all of North America. Just search Google Images for proof. But pictures don’t do it justice. You’ve got to be there.

  3. His visa approval process was intimidating, with the odds seemingly stacked against him in every way imaginable, but he was fortunate enough to get approved. If you want the story, just ask sometime.

  4. If you’re arriving by car, just drive across the water, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

  5. Please, even if we know you’re coming to the wedding, RSVP as soon as possible. It’ll greatly ease the planning process for us. Thank you!

  6. Lester is the executive director at Ferdinand—if you didn’t know already, it’s why he moved to the Philippines in the first place, and without which, he never would have met Jessie, who now volunteers his time as an event coordinator.
